Why is St. Patrick’s Day observed on March 17? March 17^th is the feast day of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patrick’s Day is also a worldwide celebration of Irish culture and history with various celebrations taking place all over the world.   It is also national holiday in Ireland and a provincial holiday in Newfoundland and Labrador.

A small bunch of shamrocks are worn on jackets or caps in Ireland on St. Patrick’s Day.  Orange, white and green badges are worn by children, and ribbons are worn in the hair of women and girls.

Facts about Clovers:

The highest number of leaves found on a clover is 14, as stated by the Guinness Book of World Records!

Their product focus was to offer unique kitchen, local hand made products, modern original art work and home decor products.

Wanting the name to reflect their product and after much thought, owner Sue Mullaly wanted to call the store ‘Finishing Touches’. However when name searching, this name was not available. Her second choice, ‘Decorate’, was also not available. Combining the two, she searched for ’Decor8 Finishing Touches’. When this was available, she registered the name right away.  Sue used an 8 to replace the “ate” in Decorate as she felt it would be unique and fun for marketing using slogans such as ’Celebr8′, ‘Decor8′, etc.

Decor8 began as a unique store offering products new to the area, and have remained unique by continually offering fresh products and listening to what the customers want to see at Decor8. Over the years customers have asked for more local products and Sue has added more local products. Customers wanted more modern art so that was added as well.

Decor8 is the only store in Saint John that provided All Clad cookware when several customers asked for great cookware. They were the first store in Saint John to offer the single serve coffee makers and continue to bring in new innovative products to keep them fresh.

Decor8 also offer wedding registries for brides and are also the perfect place to find a gift for someone!

Decor8 will be nine years old on March 3rd and will Celeb8 all things local by offering a 25% discount on all local product including original artwork, hand made jewellery, candles and soap from March 4th until March 9th.
