Trends for Spring/Summer 2011: Fashion from Je Suis Prest Boutique
As the sun shines a little brighter overhead the snow melts, unearthing the ground which has been buried for the past few months. Daylight lingers just a little longer, breathing a little bit of life into Saint John and surrounding area. Spring is upon us. I’ve been excited for spring fashion since before the snow melted. With a little layering those new warmer weather pieces can become seasonally appropriate for this time of year.
There are many predicted trends for spring and summer that are versatile, work for an array of body types and that you can easily accessorize to make it your own. With the help of store owner Kiera Fraser, we pulled pieces from the racks of Je Suis Prest Boutique and compiled 5 wearable looks for this spring:
Maxi Dress: Yumi
Stevie Wrap: Alternative Apparel
Belt: Nicole Lee
A look that can be dressed up, dressed down, and fit an array of body types is the maxi dress. Maxi dresses and skirts are trends that I noticed were on the rise last year and I predict you’ll see them go main-stream this summer. Layering a maxi with a sweater or jean jacket will help transition the look into warmer weather. Belting the garment will add definition to the outfit and slim your waist.
White Dress: Kensie
Belt: Nicole Lee
White is a colour that gains popularity with the warmer weather and this spring/summer is no exception to the rule. A white pair of trousers, jeans, or a cute dress is a great choice to celebrate the change in seasons.
Floral blouse with tie: Lucy Love
Wide leg jeans: iT jeans
Earrings: Lavishy
In fashion, trends are cyclical. This season, the 70’s are back with wide leg jeans and colourful tunics for starters. This is a trend that makes me think of stylist Rachel Zoe with her colourful and eclectic patterned tops and her bell bottoms.
Embellished details & Trousers
Embellished top: Numph
Silk trousers: BB Dakota
I love a garment that has texture: embellishments are a great way to add character to an outfit, whether they be sequins, beading, or studs. Trousers are another item that are popular now: you can sport them in a variety of styles whether they be high-waisted, cropped, or wide leg.
Crop top: Lucy Love
Tank top: C’est Moi
Boyfriend jeans: iT jeans
Floral scarf: C’est Moi
Necklace: Zoe Accessories
Another look that you will be seeing in stores is the crop top. Not bold enough to bare your mid drift? No problem. This is a top that is versatile in how you can style it: layer it a longer with a closer fitting tank top underneath to achieve.
It was fun to play within the beautiful selections that Je Suis Prest Boutique has to offer and dress Kiera up! I always love too many things within the store to count.
